Write about a misunderstanding that you once had with a friend or a family member

I didn’t remember when I had a misunderstanding with my family or my friend, but I recall a story about my uncle.

Twenty years ago, my uncle went a far place to help his brother in law doing work at a farm, he did very hard, and his brother in law was very happy with my uncle’s help.it was at midday,  the brother in law said to my uncle: “good work,  go home to have a rest”, and my uncle just went back home with a frowning face

but he misunderstood his brother in law exactly, the true meaning of that sentence “go home to have a rest” was to go back to his brother in law’s home, his sister(brother in law’s wife) had prepared lunch for them.

what a real misunderstanding!

Because Things do get lost in translation:

first, In many cases to understand what someone means  interpreters must first have the cultural stories that go to make up the meaning

second, the interpreters can’t give all the background o a word or phrase when they are interpreting for someone in real-time
