The school subject mistake

   I believe this is the most frequently mistake that all the language learners would make when they would like to learn a new language. It’s true even you get a good grade in English class, that doesn’t mean you can talk well with others in English.

   Recall the scene when I talked to others in English for the first time, I am nervous and always stuck in speaking even only one word. My brain is blank though I am eager to express what I want to said in my mind. Why is that? My brain is busy to organize the grammar structure, checking which word is proper for the sentences, and I am afraid to speak the wrong words and make jokes to others. That’s why I can’t speak even only one sentence. This is the worst situation because you know you could do that, but you can’t help it. Then you felt frustrated and even given up to do it once again. Even now, I am better than as before but still occurred similar situation when I talked some topics deeper with others. The situation is more serious when I talked to others only through phone. Because we can’t see each other, and only use voice as a medium for communication.

   Language is a communication tool, that’s because we need the information from the context, culture experiences, and even some gestures to help us comprehend the whole meaning from others. If something missed, maybe we could not understand the others exactly, even misunderstood. Correspond to learning language as a school subject, we only learn the language by grammar, structures, and less of intonation. That could only give us few information and limited situation for our life. We will feel boring and our brain also would not consider it as an important part in our life. I think that only works in written world of the language, not the verbal world. In the English world, I am dumb that only can express my feeling through writing.

   So this passage told us if we want to learn a language well, we should not only get the words and structures in language but also immerse ourselves into the world of the language. That include the culture, daily life context, etc.., We are not only get the language, but also knowing the whole knowledge about the country of the language.
