I learned a new word -“colloquialism “from the Chapter 15 Of “The Third Ear” recently .
Original sentence:
He talked about the NFL, little pieces of gossip related to his home town, smattering his speech with American colloquialisms.
“ colloquialism “means
“ an informal word or expression that is more suitable for use in speech than in writing.”
I try to practice making up sentences :
1. Reading a colloquialism prose much easier than reading an ancient Chinese prose.
2. We are learning the meaning of colloquialisms and idioms in new language.
3. Jay loves to study regional colloquialisms.
