The link between genes and language (Lesson 389)

As the author says, a lot of people have “The cultural mythology mistake”. It means whether a person can learn a language depends on genes. In other words, this idea thinks Chinese born to speaking Chinese, Japanese born to speaking Japanese, American born to speaking English. That just because they have the something genes.

I don’t think the idea about learning language by genetic is ture. Even, I think it’s ridiculous.

Firstly, a long time ago, the ancient people just ate,drank, caught and hunted. After more people and the business was appeared, the people needed to communicate. So the people invented someone language. For example, the ancient Chinese invented ancient Chinese, the ancient Britisher invented ancient English. The language just a tool for people communicate. If this ability is determind only by genes, why did the first person not speak language?

Secondly, there are too many case around us. Usually, a foreign child born in china, he will gradually taking about in Chinese. Whatever he is a Chinese of westerner. Because everyone around him talking Chinese. The important thing is the child would communicate. The child would like to eat and play. Their born ability is communicate with people in local language.

I have a friend, her name is yuki. She is a Japanese. Her parents and grandparents always Japanese. She was born and rised in China. She has been using Chinese to communicate with people around her. Yeah, as you might expect, she can’t speak Japanese. Her genes did not give her a natrual understanding of Japanese.

In the end, the language learning should be easy to say. It’s need the scientific methods and more practices. You would talk about with local people to learning language. There is no way that believe something ideas about genetics. Believe in your own efforts.
