A special gift

I have a friend, she was my roommate in high school. Though we haven’t seen each other for about 14 years, we still keep in touch. We were not classmates, but we lived in the same dormitory. We had a stressful high school learning environment. We had class all day long until ten o’clock, and then we didn’t wash up and go to sleep until after ten o’clock. We had our free time at the dormitory. I slept on her upper bunk, and she slept on my lower bunk. She is an outgoing girl who always smiles when you talk to her. We often chat until late at night.

Time flies. She has two children,  and I have a baby girl.  About four months ago, she asked me for a picture of my daughter and me. I didn’t know what she wanted to do with the photo.

We chatted on WeChat a week ago, and she told me she would give me a special gift. I’m looking forward to it. I received it on Christmas Eve. I couldn’t help crying when I opened the gift. It’s a cross-stitch pillow with my photo on it. She told me there were one hundred sixty thousand needles. She was busy with it when she had free time, and most of the time, she stayed up late on it when her children slept.

I can’t express this love with words.
