Imitating a talk show

I set a task for my own eighth milestone, which was to imitate the Ellen Show. The preparation process for this Talk Show was quite challenging, because the host Ellen spoke very quickly. At first I couldn’t keep up with the speed of the speech. I tried to disassemble the content one by one,and practiced slowly sentence by sentence. First asked myself to understand the full text, and then spoke clearly word by word. After proficiency I tried to speed up gradually, and followed the video constantly repeat listening, shadowing(follow reading ), listening and shadowing(follow reading).

When I was in the situation that was inconvenient to speak, I would play Talk show audio and listen repeatedly. My purpose was to familiarize with and further grasp Ellen’s speech rate and rhythm. Once I had time,I practiced as much as I can. When I felt the speed was almost the same, then I asked myself to sync with Ellen’s voice as much as possible. After a sentence was completed, practicing the next sentence. After each sentence was finished, and then continued from the first sentence again. Once I felt not fluent, I would try again and again, and make sure that the connection between each sentence was smooth and uninterrupted.

After the training of this talk show, I found that my speech rate and sense of language have improved a lot, and my expression was more confident. I strongly recommend that everyone choose a favorite video. If you have time, you can try to practice oral English in the above way. English ability will be greatly improved!  Come on !!
