After reading pages of”The Third Ear”

If I compare my experience of traditional foreign language classes with the author’s experience of learning French in class, what is the same ? What’s the different?

we have had same environment, when we were at high school to learn foreign language. We had same to learn grimmer lesson. If your own language grimmer lesson is terrible, then you can’t learn the foreign language grimmer well. 
we had different experience of learning foreign language. I was learned English at my high school. My teacher he never spoke English to someone who speak English. No body know is he spoke it was fault or true or which time he made a mistake. Because nobody saw someone who can speaking English. All students were speaking Chinese. Even we learned English, still nobody chat in English. 

When reading English, if I meet the words that I don’t know understand, how should I react? I proceed reading it. I will skip it that I don’t know understand the words.
