Should we ask WHY when learning a new language

Many language teachers say, don’t ask why when you learn a new language because that is it. But I have different opinion.

Normally, we ask “Why” for below reasons:
First, “Why” is it different from what we used to say in my language? — so, that’s the reason you are learning the new language.
Second, “Why” do they say that in this way?, then it comes two different thinking, positive and negative. Positive thinker starts searching for origins of slang or idioms and harvest the culture or history information. It is not only the interest during learning a new language but also a trigger to find more application of the patent of this language. Negative thinker, usually are forced to learn this new language by some reasons, keeps on complaining., ” it is too complex, it is unreasonable, etc”. The true voice in their mind is ” why should I learn it?”.

If we decide to learn a new language, then just do it and accept the difference. Asking “why” with curiosity rather than criticism must speed up our learning efficiency without troubling ourselves.
