Just memorized when I first saw the film of Chris Lonsdale from TED, his idea about learning a new language with 6 month interested me. I have never heard that learning a new language can be easy like what he said on TED. So I jointed the KungFu English simply assume this idea is true. When I follow the way of Kungfu English and get deeper and deeper, I am getting to know that this idea is based on lots of science theory, and the evidences are just around my daily life.
The example for children to learn a new language is a good way to support this theory here. I observe my kids learning Chinese and discovered they listening a string of sound, and then turned into a string of word even they don’t know what those mean. But they really can sense the pattern. They pick up the words and phrases unconsciously and blurted out occasionally. Be their parents, I had no idea when did they pick up those.
The ability of learning language is really built in the children naturally. The instinct of the brain is designed to recognize the voice in the world whatever languages are spoken. Another way to explain the idea is that, there is a ghost in any language. Human are inbuilt an ability to sense the pattern (Ghost) of the language. We can exactly repeat some words even we heard it for the first time. This is very hard for computers to recognize speech of human today.
Many evidence shows that is not only apply to children but also for adults. The adults have more possibilities to apply the inbuilt ability well. We already had learn our mother tongue, this could be a good way to extend many concepts to learn a 2nd language. What we have to do is find proper methods and apply them into our life, just like the children.
