The Third Ear Page 9 my written pieces

In this page, the author first tells us why did he decide to write this book. He met a young western woman at a seminar. This woman complained that Mandarin Chinese was very difficult to learn. Her idea was the same as many westerners. The author told her that mandarin could be mastered very quickly but she did not believe. Therefore the author decided to write this book. The opinion of the author is that learning a foreign language can be more easily and more effectively. His conclusion comes from his own experience of learning Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. He thinks that everyone is a language genius because we came into this world without words and grammar, but we mastered our mother tongue. As long as we can better use our natural language talent, we can learn any foreign languages with the greatest ease and the most fun.
