    “Cracking.

    The egg is cracking.
    The egg has a cracking.
    This is a cracking novel.”

    This is interesting.
We would say – “the egg has a crack”. So, “to crack” is the process. “A crack” is the (visible) outcome. (一个裂缝).

For novel, we would say “this is a cracking good novel” (I think 🙂 ) In this case the intended usage of “crack” is NOT 裂缝。 It’s a sound, like the sound of a gunshot, or the sound of a whip. 噼啪声 or 咔嚓声.
