Use What You Know Already (Lesson 513)

In the last content, the author put a new idea about “using what you’ve got” in learning language. It’s very different the traditional idea of learning language. In my previous learning process, we always focus on the vacabulary – the words you can be remembered. Usually, as long as you learned a second language, whatever you were adults or children, the first thing was always beginning to remembering words.

The main idea of traditional language learning is like that, the more words you memorized, the more you can learned this language. In fact, I used to think so before. I had downloaded the specific app of memorizing words, then remember some words everyday. But the result was not good, some words I can remembered for a time, the other words I can’t remembered. Actually because I just remembered the words alone, I can’t used it in a right place. Then the method of only remember words are minimally effective for me. At that time, I feel frustrated and feel sooo bad. Even I think I’m so stupid, why those words you can’t memorized, the other people looks like always could memorized.

After read the content, I undertand the words were more and more, it’s impossible to carry the whole words, and it’s not necessarily. Becuase the language is a skill, then remember the centre theme. We need to practice all the time in language learning process. Then how do we do it the first time? Yeah, I think you are get it now. Just the beginning of words that you’ve got. Just simple words, you use it, you get the feedback. I think you would have fun in communication in a second language. For me, even if it’s just a word to communicate with people, I also would feel a sense of accomplishment. I would think “wa, I can talk with the things in a second language, I’m so good.” Compare with the boring remembering words, I think it’s more suitable for ordinary people.
