Words are the Core of Language (Lesson 510)
Obviously, the individual words play a much more important role in language than grammar.
In fact, it’s also the first thing that learning and remembering words of a second language learning in China. As I mentioned above, Chinese students learning a second language always early, like me, I began to learn English in primary school. And the learning steps is simple at that time. You would get a textbook in English, as the teacher said, the first step, you should remember the words from the lesson, than the teacher would teach me the grammar in class. Yes, memorizing the words is the first step. Sometimes, Chinese students would write the words from memory in class.
Next, I would talk about my experience traveling abroad to enhance the point that the words is most important in a foreign language. That trip also took place in August or September, what is the specific date I don’t remember now, in the Central Europe. Because it was summer at that time, I just took some skirts and t-shirt in my suitcase. Well, as long as you don’t have something, you will need something. It cooled down on my third day in that city. Then what did I do at the time? You maybe guessed, I had bought the coat in a shopping mall. But the clothes in season both were the summer style, like some dresses and shirts. I just wanted a coat. So, what should I do next, it’s simple, just asked a saleswamon “do you have coats for sale?”
Look at the above example, If I didn’t express my idea with the word – coat, it’s almost impossible to explain. But if I don’t remember the grammar, just asked the saleswoman, “coat, have?” I think she was probably could figure out what I mean. Because it was a shop that sells clother, I entered into that shop and said the clothes style and “have”.
