I learned new idiom -“chalk it up to experience “from the Chapter 15 Of “The Third Ear” recently .
Original sentence:
If you say something that other people don’t get, like Michelle you’ll just let it pass and chalk it up to experience.
“ chalk it up to experience “means
“ take something as a learning experience”
I try to practice making up sentences :
1. We didn’t achieve the goal this time ,but never mind – chalk it up to experience.
2. When customers have new requirements, we must first quote the customer and obtain their consent before we can construct. I guess we’ll have to chalk it up to experience.
3. He was upset about falling his assignment ,but his boss said to him “ Just chalk it up to experience and try harder next time .”
