Going to Unfamiliar Places

In 2011,  I first went to Nylam, a county in Tibet, to work. I bought a ticket at the Xigaze long distance bus station in the early morning, and it was dawning. I remember it was about before Christmas. I worn a thick coat, but still felt cold. I was a little bit afraid of the bus, because I could catch a whiff of a certain scent from it, which made me disgusted. Feeling the palpitation in my legs, I got on the long distance bus trying to find a seat in the front of the bus so that I could feel better.

It was said that I would arrive at my destination at 8 or 9 pm. So long time! It would be a tough task for me, but I said to myself ‘come on, brave girl, you can make it!’ Looking at the mild scenery, mounds without trees, a little grass, clear and blue air with little cloud, I felt sort of lonely and a little bit expectancy. There were a few people in the bus, but we didn’t talk to each other. When I arrived, it was nearly dark. At that time, cellphone wasn’t able to reserve a hotel. I had to look for a guesthouse to live in. At last, I lived in a 8-bed room without any appliance to stay warm. Fortunately, the kindhearted hotel waiter gave me 4 quilts, but it was remain cold at night.

The next day, I got up and organized my luggage, then I proceeded to the county government building. Asking the guard man where I should go, I went up to the fourth floor, or thereabouts, I cannot remember it exactly now. I met an easygoing elder sister who comes from the same place as me. That’s great! With her help, I came into my first job.

I was really a lucky girl.
