Imitating native speakers like singing

Recently, I make some friends who are talking in English. We often send messages and share our lives with each other.

One day, Our English Coach OC Send a picture to weChat group, there is a encouragement sentence on the picture. The sentence is “Don’t believe those who tell you they love you, believe those who show you they do”. I can’t master the rhythm of this sentence, so my reading doesn’t sound good.

I want to speak it well, so I sent this picture to my friends to ask for some help. Unfortunately, all of our friends were not online at that time.  Curiosity is the best teacher, it made me sent a message and the picture on the HellTalk app. I wrote, “Could you please tell me, What is this kind of sentence been called in English?”. Someone tell me it’s named “expression”, Someone tell me it’s named “quote”, Someone tell me it’s named “Chicken soup for the soul”. It’s really interesting, In China, we often named it “Chicken soup for the soul”.

One of them taught me how to read that sentence, His rhythm and pronunciation are really really perfect. At first, I follow his reading, my reading sounds too common, it’s very different from his reading. What is the reason? I was really confused. Suddenly, I remember I have heard a girl, she sings Chinese song very well, but she can’t speak Chinese.  At that moment I thought “Why didn’t I imitating his reading voice and rhythm like singing?” I began to try, several times later, my reading became well. I am so surprised and glad.

Imitating native speakers like singing is good for your spoken English.
